Information Won’t Create the Change You Want in Your Life
Information alone does not equal change.
You can read alllll the books. Listen to allllll the podcasts. Highlight every insight, screenshot every quote, nod along to every episode like it's speaking directly to you. And still — nothing changes.
Knowledge isn't the endgame. It's the beginning. And a lot of us get stuck there, mistaking the collecting for the doing.
Why Knowing Isn't the Same as Changing
Here’s the thing - understanding a pattern doesn't dissolve it.
You can know exactly why you overcommit, why you shrink in meetings, why you keep taking the job that looks right and feels wrong – and still do all of it again next week.
I know this not only because I watch it happen with clients constantly, but also because I've lived it.
Someone has the "aha." The moment feels huge. It’s so clarifying it’s almost like a huge sense of relief.
And then, we have 3,467 emails in our inbox, our kid’s entire lacrosse schedule changes, an initiative that was pretty far down on the priority list has become number one and has a deadline that feels close to impossible – and that aha becomes just another tip stored on a shelf in the back of a closet you don't open.
The insight is there. But insight doesn’t equal action.
What It Really Takes to Change Your Life
Wanting to change your life and doing it are rarely in the same moment. Wanting it comes easy. It shows up in the quiet, uncomfortable spaces – in the car, at 2 a.m., during the small talk at a party where you’re only half-listening.
Doing it requires something else entirely. It requires deciding you want it more than you want to stay safe anymore. That’s you’re willing to get brave and take action before you feel ready. To stop treating the plan as the finish line and start treating it like an exploration.
At a certain point, you have to prioritize making the change over protecting your comfort.
You have to be willing to do the stuff that scares the shit out of you.
You have to be willing to fuck it up, fall on your face, and get up again — because that's the only road that actually leads anywhere.
There's no version of radically changing your life that skips this part.
The Pattern I See With Every Client Who Makes Lasting Changes
The clients who get unstuck aren't the ones with the most insight.
Some of the most self-aware people have been stuck the longest – brilliant at diagnosing themselves, terrified of doing anything about it.
The ones who move are the ones who are willing to get uncomfortable. Small, imperfect, often clumsy action taken before they feel ready and before certainty shows up (it won't, by the way. Certainty comes after the action, not before it).
It will be scary. I can promise you that.
But I can also promise you this: waking up three years from now, still wanting the exact same thing you've been thinking about for the past year (or longer) is scarier.
This Is Your Invitation
Get messy.
Take some risks
Start small
Fall flat on your face. Get up and try again.
F*ck around and find out what happens
That's it. That's the whole strategy. Not a ten-step plan. Just the decision to do something.
So the real question isn't whether you know enough yet. You do.
The real question is whether you're willing to be bad at something new for a while, on the way to becoming the person who has the life you keep saying you want.
It will be worth it.
You're worth it.
If you're done thinking about the change and ready to make it, that's exactly what a clarity call is for. No pitch, no pressure — just a real conversation about what's in the way, and what it would take to move.
